On February 29, members created a number of brush piles for Crappie and Black Bass habitat in the lake. You may click here for a pdf file showing the locations and GPS coordinates.
LBCC Improves Fish Habitat
A total of twenty of us cut 300 cedar trees and put them in the lake to improve fish habitat. On February 21st we cut the trees and on the 29th we worked with Texas Parks & Wildlife to put them in piles at 8 locations in the lake. The locations of the brush have been identified by GPS coordinates and that information is now available on this web site, under 'Accomplishments' or via the link provided above. The habitat should improve the catch rate for Crappie and Black Bass.
There were 10 of us from the LBCC, 3 from the Llano Bass Club, 4 from TP&W and 3 other volunteers. We had a great time working together. In the next month or so, we might repeat this effort with more trees. We can use all the help we can get, so please sign up or call. Pictures show workers preparing the trees for placing in the lake.
On January 9, 2008 the LBCC board met and accepted a formal mission statement, set the budget for 2008 and reelected current officers.
Clancy Terrill resigned his position on the board and as secretary. One of our members, Gwen Carpenter, agreed to replace Clancy on the board and as secretary.
The LBCC is again applying for a grant from the Burnet County Hotel/Motel tax fund to restock the lake with Hybrid Striped Bass.
