2006
On May 8th, the LBCC purchased 500,000 hybrid striped bass fry (tiny, just hatched fish) from Keo Fish Farm, Inc. in Arkansas for $2500. LBCC members picked them up at the Austin airport and put them in ten different shallow parts of the lake.

2007
On April 16th, the LBCC purchased 300,000 hybrid striped bass fry from Keo for $1500, delivered them to the Inks Lake Hatchery where they were raised to fingerling size (about 1 to 2 inches). Funds for the raising of the fish, $15,000, were provided by the Burnet County Hotel/Motel Tax Fund. On May 10, 2007, Texas Parks and Wildlife, helped by LBCC members, put 128,341 fingerlings in deep parts of the lake.
There was some Burnet County money not spent raising the hybrid stripers, so we were able to buy approximately 10,000 Channel Catfish that we put into the lake in September.

2008
On April 10th, the LBCC purchased 700,000 hybrid striped bass fry from Keo for $3500, 200,000 were delivered to Inks Lake Hatchery where they will be raised to approx. 100,000 fingerlings. Funds for this, $9000, were provided again by the Burnet County Hotel/Motel Tax Fund. On April 14th 600,000 fry were put in twelve shallow parts of the lake by LBCC members. (Keo had a large hatch and gave us an extra 100,000 fry) The fingerlings will go in the lake sometime in May.

By May, 2008 the LBCC will have stocked the lake with:
- 1,100,000 Hybrid Striper fry
- 228,341 Hybrid Striper fingerlings
- 10,000 Channel Catfish fingerlings

In doing so, the LBCC spent $7500 and Burnet County has contributed $24,000.

In addition, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Dept. has restocked the lake annually with striped bass. In 2006 and 2007 they stocked a total of 2,404,200 fry and 604,300 fingerlings. In 2008, TP&W fisheries biologists have requested 333,168 striped bass and 555,280 Florida largemouth bass be stocked in Lake Buchanan.  The actual number stocked by TPWD will depend on their 2008 hatchery production.

In total, 2006 through 2008, the LBCC and TP&W will have stocked 1.1 million hybrid striped bass fry, 2.4 million striped bass fry, 228,341 hybrid striped bass fingerlings, 937,468 striped bass fingerlings, 555,280 Florida largemouth bass and 10,000 channel catfish in the lake!

Several people have reported that in 2008 they have caught legal sized (over 18 inches) Hybrid Stripers. They seem to be from our 2006 stocking.                          4/14/08
